 1st Annual FBC Men’s Retreat

September 5-7, 2008

 

DATE & LOCATION:

The FBC Men’s Retreat will start on Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 6pm and end on Sunday, September 7th, 2008 around noon. Camp will be held at the Box-R Ranch Outback out of Ashland, The Ashland Outback camp provides many new and exciting activities and great facilities.  Feel free to checkout their website at www.boxrranch.com. The Outback is located on 240 acres in the backcountry. In the midst of abounding wildlife, dense forests, unique rock outcroppings, refreshing ponds, creeks and pleasant meadows; you’ll be given the opportunity to participate in as many activities as possible.

 

Activities include:

horseback riding,

fly fishing,

disc golf,

paintball,

volleyball,

ropes course,

swimming,

archery,

golf,

horse shoes,

trap/skeet shooting,

and bean bags.

 

There is also an area to play board games or cards during free time. There’s something for the young and the young at heart.  This is the summer event you can’t miss!

 

SLEEPING & WASHING ACCOMMODATIONS:

We’ll be staying in huge tipi’s with a tarp floor.  Each tipi is equipped with only one (1) cot.  It is recommended that you bring your own cot or air mattress to use in the tipis.  For those of you who can’t stay in a tipi, the Outback camp has 3 cabins that sleep four (4) persons each.  These bunks will be given on a first come, first served and most need basis.  If you can manage in a tipi please do.  There is also a washhouse on site with 4 individual shower stalls and well-kept bathrooms.  It won’t feel like you’re roughin’ it.

 

REGISTRATION & DEADLINES:

The total cost of the Men’s Retreat is $85 per person. This includes all food, lodging, and most other activities. There are extra costs for activities like paintball ($15) and horseback riding ($35).  You will also need to pick up your own Oregon fishing license ($12) for Saturday and bring your own shotgun shells for trap/skeet shooting. NOTE: Please do not let cost be the reason you can’t go.  Contact the church office (926-5095) to learn more about a scholarship.

 

The complete registration cost, along with the completed registration form is due on or before August 31st, 2008, at NOON at the First Baptist Church. Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church and mail to: Men’s Retreat, c/o First Baptist Church, 812 Lassen Lane, Mount Shasta, CA 96067. Registration may also be received at this office Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.

 

 

FORMS YOU’LL NEED:

You’ll need to have filled out and have signed a medical information form and a liability waiver.  Copies of these forms can be downloaded and printed by clicking the above links.  You can also find these forms at the church office for your convenience.

 

TRANSPORTATION:

The Men’s Ministry will NOT be transporting men to the camp.  You will need to find your own way there and back.  It is about a 2-hour drive from Mount Shasta.  There are two ways to get there.  One is from I-5 and the other is from HWY 97.  We would strongly recommend the HWY 97 Route.  Each route takes the same amount of time, however, coming in from HWY 97 is a much straighter road, which you will appreciate especially if prone to carsickness.
